Type F Carbide Burr, 6/8/10/12 mm Head Cut Diameter Ladder
Type F ball-nose burrs across a 6 to 12 mm ladder – one geometry, four sizes, one selection table.
Design and Construction
Type F (ball-nose cylinder) in four head diameters: 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm on 6 mm shanks. The same ball-nose geometry scaled across the ladder – pick the size, keep the behaviour.
How It Works
The ball nose rolls through concave work; larger heads plane wider blends at lower RPM (about 50,000 starting at 6 mm, about 25,000 at 12 mm).
Applications
Concave blending, fillet dressing, die work and fabrication radii at any scale.
Field Cases
- Die shop: F6 for fillets, F12 for cored pockets – one geometry across the die.
- Fabricator: F10 blended a 15 mm radius in two passes.
- Maintenance: the ladder covered pump-casing fillets from 6 to 12 mm without custom orders.
Performance Data
| Metric | Value / Observation |
|---|---|
| Ladder | 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 mm cut diameters |
| Speed by size | 6 mm: about 50,000 RPM; 12 mm: about 25,000 RPM starting in steel |
| Geometry rule | Same ball-nose profile scaled – behaviour predictable |
| Hardness | 1,300-1,500 HV across the ladder |
Suitable Materials
Steel, cast iron, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals.
Material Comparison: F6 vs F8 vs F10 vs F12 – Choosing by the Job
The same ball nose at four sizes – typical industry data:
| Size | Best Job | Starting Speed (steel) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| F6 (6 mm) | Tight fillets, small radii | About 50,000 RPM | Detail control |
| F8 (8 mm) | Standard fillets | About 40,000 RPM | General blending |
| F10 (10 mm) | Wide radii | About 30,000 RPM | Faster coverage |
| F12 (12 mm) | Cored pockets, heavy blends | About 25,000 RPM | Max removal |
Delivery Scope
Each size tube-packed with its diameter; full ladder stocked.
Why Choose VPOINT
A published ladder replaces trial-and-error with a number.
Precision & Quality Control
Each diameter checked against the size table before packing.
