Double Cut Tungsten Carbide Rotary Burrs (ISO 9001)
Double-cut solid carbide burrs (SB shape) for fast stock removal on metal and wood; produced under ISO 9001 quality management.
Design and Construction
Double-cut burrs carry both a right-hand flute and a left-hand flute, producing small chips, low vibration and fast stock removal. Heads are integral tungsten carbide; production follows ISO 9001 procedures.
How It Works
The crossed flutes break chips continuously, so the burr pulls itself into the work with less cutting pressure – effective for rapid deburring and shaping at 6,000-50,000 RPM.
Applications
Fast stock removal, weld seam dressing, cast-iron and steel deburring, hardwood and bamboo shaping, sculpting and model work.
Suitable Materials
Steel, cast iron, stainless steel, copper alloys, hardwood and bamboo.
Field Cases
- Food-equipment welder: dresses 316L TIG seams – double cut avoids the work-hardened glaze a single cut leaves when feed drops.
- Die shop: touches up 45 HRC clamp faces where the crossed flutes keep chatter out of the blend.
- Maintenance: cuts a seized stainless bolt head flush without grabbing.
Performance Data
| Metric | Value / Observation |
|---|---|
| Stainless practice | Keep the tool moving – double cut reduces work-hardening on 304/316 (industry guidance) |
| Starting speed, 6 mm in stainless | About 25,000 RPM; in mild steel about 30,000 RPM |
| Life note | Crossed flutes spread the cut over two edge families, slowing edge rounding |
| Certification | Produced under ISO 9001 batch control |
Material Comparison: Double Cut vs. Single Cut on the Same 6 mm Head
What the crossed flute actually buys you – typical industry data:
| Factor | Double Cut (this burr) | Single Cut |
|---|---|---|
| Cutting action | Shears twice per revolution | Shears once per revolution |
| Chip size | Small, broken, easy to clear | Long continuous chip |
| Hand feel | Stable, low grab | Pulls to one side |
| Work-hardening risk on stainless | Lower – less rubbing | Higher if feed lags |
| Best materials | Stainless, hardened steel, alloy steel | Mild steel, cast iron, copper |
| Finish at equal speed | Finer | More directional |
Delivery Scope
Burr in plastic tube or plastic case; sets and custom markings available.
Why Choose VPOINT
VPOINT TOOLS has manufactured precision cutting tools since 2008 in two production bases (Sichuan and Dongguan, China) under ISO 9001 quality management. Every carbide burr is supported by a one-year warranty, custom and non-standard engraving service, and regrinding service. Cross-cut geometry is ground for balance, minimizing vibration during prolonged work.
Precision & Quality Control
Each burr is checked for flute geometry, cutting-edge sharpness, shank runout and concentricity at micrometre level before packing; production batches are traceable and packed per ISO 9001 procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the burr made of solid tungsten carbide?
Yes. The cutting head is integral tungsten carbide in YG series grades.
Which shank sizes are available?
6 mm (1/4″) cylindrical shank standard; 3 mm and 8 mm shanks on request.
What speed should I run the burr at?
Run between 6,000 and 50,000 RPM depending on the cutter diameter; use the lower end for larger diameters and the higher end for fine detail work.
Which materials can I machine with it?
Steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals and hardwood.
Do you accept custom or non-standard sizes?
Yes. VPOINT supports custom shapes, sizes, shank lengths and laser marking on non-standard orders (minimum order quantity applies).
