PCD Half Round Bits

This PCD half round bit machines half-round edge profiles for stair treads, window sills and shelves. The diamond edge rounds the edge section cleanly and holds the radius through long runs on abrasive panel materials.

Design and Construction

+Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) cutting edges are brazed onto a steel body with a half-round profile. The chart lists part numbers 0606W2304–6908 with cutting diameters from 23.4 to 68.8 mm, radii from 3.17 to 25.4 mm and profile widths from 6.35 to 50.8 mm, in 1/4″ and 1/2″ shanks. The series is produced in the Sichuan and Dongguan, China manufacturing bases.

How It Works

+In the CNC router the half-round profile follows the workpiece edge, rounding the section in one pass. The PCD edge keeps the radius constant across stair treads, sills and shelf edges without the edge breakdown that dulls carbide.

Applications

  • Half-round edge profiles for stair treads, window sills and shelves
  • Edge rounding on CNC routers and edge-processing machines

Suitable Materials

  • MDF, chipboard and calcium board, subject to grade and application review
  • Suitability depends on the specific material grade, profile and machining conditions; confirm the application before ordering

Material Comparison: Traditional Carbide Router Bit vs. Diamond (PCD) Router Bit

+Typical industry data for reference. Actual results depend on the workpiece grade, machine condition and feed rate.

Property Traditional Carbide Router Bit Diamond (PCD) Router Bit
Cutting edge hardness 1,500–2,000 HV (carbide) 7,000–9,000 HV (PCD diamond)
Edge life on abrasive panels Baseline (1×) 15–20× longer edge life
Heat resistance of the edge Loses hardness above ≈ 315 °C Retains hardness up to ≈ 1,000 °C
Feed rate at equal quality Lower Higher
Sharpness retention on MDF / particleboard Dulls quickly Holds the edge through long runs
Regrinding cycles over tool life 2–4 times 5–8 times
Cut edge quality as the edge wears More fuzzing and tearout Consistent clean walls
Chipping risk on brittle boards Higher at high feed Lower, stable edge at high feed
Typical machines Light-duty routers CNC routers, engraving and routing machines
Cost per metre of cut Higher over long runs Lower over long runs

Delivery Scope

Each tool is packed in an individual plastic box.

+Each order also includes an inspection record. Send the edge section and workpiece thickness, required radius and profile width, machine model, cutting direction and quantity; a cross-section drawing is reviewed for custom half-round profiles.

Why Choose VPOINT

+VPOINT supports this PCD router bit series with:

  • One-year warranty on every tool
  • Custom profiles, diameters and shanks produced to order
  • Regrinding service to extend tool life
  • Factory direct since 2008, ISO 9001 certified
  • Dual manufacturing bases in Sichuan and Dongguan, China

Precision & Quality Control

+Every half round bit is inspected before shipment: cutting diameter, radius, shank diameter and tool runout are checked against the specification table at micron level. Production follows an ISO 9001 process with batch traceability, so reorders match the original configuration.
