PCD Horizontal Crown Bit
This PCD horizontal crown bit cuts sweeping cove and concave profiles for crown mouldings and decorative work. The large-diameter diamond profile machines wide moulding curves that smaller bits cannot form in one pass.
PCD Horizontal Crown Bit for CNC Woodworking
This PCD horizontal crown bit cuts sweeping cove and concave profiles for crown mouldings and decorative work. The large-diameter diamond profile machines wide moulding curves that smaller bits cannot form in one pass.

Design and Construction
+Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) cutting edges are brazed onto a large steel body with a horizontal crown profile. The chart lists part numbers 1826W2908–9508 with cutting diameters from 28.6 to 95.2 mm and cutting heights from 4 to 10 mm in a 1/2″ shank. The series is produced in the Sichuan and Dongguan, China manufacturing bases.
How It Works
+In the CNC router the crown profile sweeps the cove across the workpiece face; the wide diamond edge forms the full concave curve in one pass. The PCD edge holds the curve geometry on abrasive boards, keeping the moulding detail consistent.
Applications
- Sweeping cove and concave profiles for crown mouldings and decorative work
- Wide decorative curves on CNC routers and moulding machines
Suitable Materials
- MDF, chipboard and calcium board, subject to grade and application review
- Suitability depends on the specific material grade, profile and machining conditions; confirm the application before ordering
Material Comparison: Traditional Carbide Router Bit vs. Diamond (PCD) Router Bit
+Typical industry data for reference. Actual results depend on the workpiece grade, machine condition and feed rate.
| Property | Traditional Carbide Router Bit | Diamond (PCD) Router Bit |
|---|---|---|
| Cutting edge hardness | 1,500–2,000 HV (carbide) | 7,000–9,000 HV (PCD diamond) |
| Edge life on abrasive panels | Baseline (1×) | 15–20× longer edge life |
| Heat resistance of the edge | Loses hardness above ≈ 315 °C | Retains hardness up to ≈ 1,000 °C |
| Feed rate at equal quality | Lower | Higher |
| Sharpness retention on MDF / particleboard | Dulls quickly | Holds the edge through long runs |
| Regrinding cycles over tool life | 2–4 times | 5–8 times |
| Cut edge quality as the edge wears | More fuzzing and tearout | Consistent clean walls |
| Chipping risk on brittle boards | Higher at high feed | Lower, stable edge at high feed |
| Typical machines | Light-duty routers | CNC routers, engraving and routing machines |
| Cost per metre of cut | Higher over long runs | Lower over long runs |
Delivery Scope
Each tool is packed in an individual plastic box.
+Each order also includes an inspection record. Send the full moulding cross-section, required profile depth and workpiece dimensions; the overall cutter diameter and available machine clearance are reviewed together before production.
Why Choose VPOINT
+VPOINT supports this PCD router bit series with:
- One-year warranty on every tool
- Custom profiles, diameters and shanks produced to order
- Regrinding service to extend tool life
- Factory direct since 2008, ISO 9001 certified
- Dual manufacturing bases in Sichuan and Dongguan, China
Precision & Quality Control
+Every horizontal crown bit is inspected before shipment: cutting diameter, radius, shank diameter and tool runout are checked against the specification table at micron level. Production follows an ISO 9001 process with batch traceability, so reorders match the original configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which diameters are available?
+Part numbers 1826W2908–9508 cover cutting diameters from 28.6 to 95.2 mm with cutting heights from 4 to 10 mm, on a 1/2″ shank, as shown in the chart.
What profiles does it cut?
+Sweeping cove and concave profiles for crown mouldings and decorative work; the full moulding cross-section is reviewed against the cutter diameter.
Why such large diameters?
+Wide crown moulding curves require a large cutter radius to form the profile in one pass; machine clearance is confirmed together with the diameter.
What should I send for a quotation?
+The full moulding cross-section, required profile depth, workpiece dimensions, machine model, cutting direction and quantity.
