6 mm Tree Shape Double Cut Rotary Burr (SF/SC/SG/SL/SM-5 Series)
Tree, cylinder, pointed-tree, cone and taper heads in SF to SM-5 codes, packed in labelled plastic tubes for free-sample programs.
Design and Construction
The -5 size series covers five head codes: SF-5 tree shape, SC-5 cylinder, SG-5 pointed tree, SL-5 ball-nosed cone and SM-5 taper, all 6 mm head diameter class with 6 mm shanks and double-cut flutes. Each burr ships in a labelled plastic tube that carries the shape code.
How It Works
Run at 6,000-50,000 RPM, the double-cut flutes chip material fast while the coded tube system keeps shape identification instant on a busy bench.
Applications
Sample-room work, mould finishing, weld dressing and prototype machining.
Field Cases
- Mould shop: blends a machined mould cavity radius with SF-5 (tree) after EDM, cutting blend time by half versus stones.
- Sample room: SC-5 cylinder squares up an internal corner on a prototype aluminium housing.
- Jobbing shop: SM-5 taper cleans a tapered keyway on a gearbox housing.
Performance Data
| Metric | Value / Observation |
|---|---|
| Head diameter class | 6 mm (-5 series) |
| Speed range | 6,000-50,000 RPM |
| Edge hardness | 1,300-1,500 HV |
| Tube labelling | Shape code printed per tube (SF/SC/SG/SL/SM-5) |
Suitable Materials
Steel, cast iron, stainless steel, copper alloys and aluminium.
Material Comparison: One Size, Five Geometries: SF / SC / SG / SL / SM
What changes when the 6 mm head changes shape – typical industry data:
| Code | Best Job | Why |
|---|---|---|
| SF-5 tree | Blend radii and external welds | Radius follows curves without steps |
| SC-5 cylinder | Flat faces and square internal corners | End cut squares a corner |
| SG-5 pointed tree | Sharp notches and tight angles | Point reaches where flats cannot |
| SL-5 ball-nose cone | Deep internal radii and transitions | Ball nose rolls through concave work |
| SM-5 taper | Tapered holes and keyways | Flank cuts along the taper |
Delivery Scope
Single burr per labelled tube; the five-code series can be ordered as a set. Free samples available for evaluation.
Why Choose VPOINT
Coded tube packaging and free samples make tool standardisation across benches straightforward.
Precision & Quality Control
Every head passes flute-symmetry and runout checks before tubing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the -5 suffix mean?
It is the 6 mm head-diameter size code in this series.
Can I get a free sample?
Yes, free samples are available for evaluation – contact sales with the code you need.
Which code for weld blending?
SF-5 (tree shape) is the usual choice for external welds; SL-5 reaches deeper internal radii.
Are the tubes reusable?
Yes, the labelled tubes are designed for long-term bench storage.
Is a full set available?
Yes, all five codes can be ordered as one set.
