20x12x2mm Carbide Radius Profile Knives
20x12x2 mm carbide radius profile knives, L 12-20 mm, R1-R3. Replaceable radius inserts for moulding heads.
The VPOINT 20x12x2mm Carbide Radius Profile Knives are a carbide woodworking cutting tool. Ideal for radius profiling on spindle moulders, edge rounding on panel lines and cabinet and furniture profile work.
Edge banding is a process in which a thin strip of material is applied to the edge of a panel or board to protect it and give it a finished appearance. However, after the banding is applied, there may be excess material that needs to be removed. This is where an edge banding carbide scraper comes in.
Notifications of Carbide scraper blades
To use the edge banding carbide scraper, simply hold it at a 45-degree angle and scrape the excess material away from the edge of the board. The sharp carbide blade will easily remove the excess material, leaving a smooth, even edge.

It’s important to note that when using the edge banding carbide scraper, it’s crucial to use it in a consistent and even manner to avoid damaging the board or the edge banding. Additionally, it’s important to wear protective gloves and eye wear to prevent injury.

Design and Construction
The 20 x 12 x 2 mm carbide radius profile knives carries replaceable tungsten carbide insert knives on a 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body for spindle and moulder work. The size table covers lengths (L) of 12 to 20 mm, widths (W) of 12 to 17.5 mm, thicknesses (T) of 2 mm and radius values (R) from R1 to R3 per the specifications table.

How It Works
The radius knives seat in the head pocket and present a ground radius edge: as the panel feeds past, the radius forms in one pass. When an edge dulls, the knife is turned or swapped in minutes — the head stays in the machine and the profile holds its position.
Applications
- Radius profiling on spindle moulders
- Edge rounding on panel lines
- Cabinet and furniture profile work
- Production moulding heads
Suitable Materials
- Solid wood
- MDF and particleboard
- Plywood and veneered panels
- Laminated boards

The ground radius inserts hold the profile geometry across long production runs.
System Comparison: Replaceable Insert vs. Solid Knife
Insert systems keep the body in service and replace only the cutting edges. For production work, this is usually the lower-cost way to hold edge quality.
| Property | Replaceable Insert Knife (This Tool) | Solid Profile Knife |
|---|---|---|
| Edge replacement | Swap the worn insert only; the steel body stays in service | Regrind or replace the complete tool |
| Body material | 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body, reused across insert changes | Whole tool consumed as the edge wears |
| Downtime per edge change | Minutes — index or swap the insert | Send out for regrinding or buy a new tool |
| Profile changes | Fit a different insert geometry to the same body | New tool required per profile |
| Edge condition | Fresh edge on every change; consistent cut quality | Edge quality drifts between regrinds |
| Best suited for | Production cutterheads with repeat profiles | One-off profiles and low-volume work |
Solid knives remain the better choice for one-off profiles and very low volumes.
Delivery Scope
Single knife, box quantities on request. Order by the length, width, thickness and radius stated in the specifications table below.
Why Choose VPOINT
- One-year warranty on every cutter — defects in material or workmanship are covered for 12 months from delivery.
- Custom tooling — diameters, shanks, cutting lengths and flute configurations built to your drawing or sample.
- Non-standard fabrication — sizes outside the standard catalogue, including special geometries.
- Resharpening service — cutters return to service after regrinding at a fraction of new-tool cost.
- Factory-direct since 2008 — ISO 9001 manufacturing in Sichuan and Dongguan, China; no trading intermediaries.
Send a drawing, a sample or a worn tool, and our engineering team will quote the exact specification you need.
Precision & Quality Control
Every cutter is inspected before shipment. Shank diameter, cutting-edge diameter, cutting length and overall length are measured against the values listed in the specifications table, and cutting edge runout is verified on the assembled tool.
Tools measuring outside tolerance do not ship. Inspection is performed under our ISO 9001 quality system, with batch records retained for traceability.
