Design and Construction

Ten 3 mm carbide heads on 6 mm shanks, TiAlN coated for about three times the life of uncoated burrs. Shapes span ball, tree, cone, flame and cylinder geometries, each balanced for smooth rotation and minimized vibration.

How It Works

At 6,000-50,000 RPM the coated flutes stay sharp and resist chip welding; change between the ten shapes as the contour changes.

Applications

Detailed metal carving, surface treatment, tool-room finishing and maintenance deburring.

Suitable Materials

Steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.

Field Cases

  • Production deburr station: switch to the coated set cut per-shift tool changes from four to two.
  • Stainless fabricator: the coated tree heads stopped end-of-shift chip-welding cleanups.
  • Tool crib: gold heads are never accidentally issued for aluminium jobs.

Performance Data

Metric Value / Observation
Life data Coated carbide lasts 2-10x uncoated in coating-industry tests; 3x is the conservative planning figure
Coating spec TiAlN, about 3,300 HV, stable to 800-900 °C (published coating data)
Bench practice Colour coding prevents a coated head being used where an Aluma cut belongs
Set logic Ten coated heads outlast roughly three sets of uncoated heads in mixed steel work

Material Comparison: TiAlN Set vs. Uncoated Set – the Per-Head Economics

What the coating adds across a ten-head set – typical industry data:

Factor TiAlN Set (this set) Uncoated Set
Edge interval About 3x between reginds Baseline
Chip welding on stainless Markedly reduced Common cause of loading
Colour identification Gold finish – coated heads instantly recognisable on a busy bench Plain grey
Cost per cut Lower despite higher unit price Cheaper to buy, dearer per hour

Delivery Scope

Ten burrs in a plastic case; single shapes available separately.

Why Choose VPOINT

VPOINT TOOLS has manufactured precision cutting tools since 2008 in two production bases (Sichuan and Dongguan, China) under ISO 9001 quality management. Every carbide burr is supported by a one-year warranty, custom and non-standard engraving service, and regrinding service. The set geometry is matched to common contour families so one case covers most finishing work.

Precision & Quality Control

Each burr is checked for flute geometry, cutting-edge sharpness, shank runout and concentricity at micrometre level before packing; production batches are traceable and packed per ISO 9001 procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the burr made of solid tungsten carbide?

Yes. The cutting head is TiAlN-coated tungsten carbide.

Which shank sizes are available?

All ten burrs use a 6 mm (1/4″) shank.

What speed should I run the burr at?

Run between 6,000 and 50,000 RPM depending on the cutter diameter; use the lower end for larger diameters and the higher end for fine detail work.

Which materials can I machine with it?

Steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals.

Do you accept custom or non-standard sizes?

Yes. VPOINT supports custom shapes, sizes, shank lengths and laser marking on non-standard orders (minimum order quantity applies).
