WC-Co Cemented Sintered Carbide Welding Rod
Design and Construction — a VPOINT tungsten carbide composite hardfacing rod for oil drilling and mining wear protection. The specification and performance tables below list dims, duty and inspection points; the FAQ covers selection, use and service. ISO 9001 production, batch-verified, custom sizes from drawings.
Design and Construction
A WC-Co rod loaded with sintered carbide grit: sintered fragments carry their edge geometry through the braze window better than crushed fragments, whose micro-edges can round at heat.
How It Works
Sintered grit keeps its designed shape through the braze; the deposit retains the fragment edges that crushed grit loses at temperature.
Applications
Edge-critical hardfacing, cutting-tool skins, precision wear edges.
Field Cases
- Edge-critical skin: sintered grit kept the working edge geometry after braze.
- Cutting-tool line: the sintered route preserved edge sharpness.
- Precision wear edges: geometry retention became the selling spec.
Performance Data
| Metric | Value / Observation |
|---|---|
| Grit | Sintered WC-Co fragments |
| Edge retention | Better than crushed at braze heat |
| Deposit character | Edge geometry preserved |
| Matrix | Standard composite |
Suitable Materials
Edge-critical steel parts.
Material Comparison: Sintered Grit vs Crushed Grit Through the Braze
What each grit survives – typical industry data:
| Factor | Sintered Grit (this rod) | Crushed Grit |
|---|---|---|
| Edge geometry at heat | Sintered – designed shape holds | Crushed – micro-edges round |
| Best deposit | Edge-critical skins | Mass wear surfaces |
| Sharpness after braze | Retained | Reduced |
| Cost | Premium | Standard |
| Choice rule | Edge critical → sintered | Volume wear → crushed |
Delivery Scope
Rod in tube; grit spec included.
Why Choose VPOINT
Sintered grit for the edge-critical route.
Precision & Quality Control
Grit type and edge retention sampled per batch.
