Carbide Slitter Knives 90x22x1.5mm
Design and Construction
The carbide slitter knives (90 x 22 x 1.5 mm format) are tungsten carbide circular slitting knives; the specifications table lists the common OD x ID x T size range (φ70-φ105 mm, IDs φ45-φ70, thicknesses 0.2-5 mm) across the part-number series.
How It Works
The thin carbide slitter runs against a mating bottom knife in a continuous cut: the hard edge holds the slit width through long runs, and thin sections keep the material loss at each slit minimal.
Applications
- Slitting lines
- Continuous thin-stock cutting
- Paper, film and foil slitting
- Thin sheet and web cutting
Suitable Materials
- Paper and board
- Film and foil
- Thin plastic sheet
- Non-ferrous thin stock
The hard carbide edge holds slit width through long continuous runs.
Material Comparison: Tungsten Carbide vs. High-Speed Steel (HSS)
These knives carry tungsten carbide. The figures below are typical industry data showing where carbide and high-speed steel each win, so you can match the material to the job.
| Property | Tungsten Carbide | High-Speed Steel (HSS) |
|---|---|---|
| Hardness | 89–91 HRA (~1,600–2,200 HV) | 62–66 HRC (~800–900 HV) |
| Edge retention in slitting | Holds a clean edge over long paper, film and board runs | More frequent knife changes on abrasive stock |
| Impact toughness | Lower — avoid nicks and side impact | Higher — more forgiving |
| Regrind | 4–6 regrinds typical | Regrindable more often, but at shorter intervals |
| Best suited for | High-speed, high-volume slitting | General-purpose and light-duty slitting |
Delivery Scope
Single knife. Order by the outside diameter, bore and thickness stated in the specifications table below.
Why Choose VPOINT
- One-year warranty on every cutter — defects in material or workmanship are covered for 12 months from delivery.
- Custom tooling — diameters, shanks, cutting lengths and flute configurations built to your drawing or sample.
- Non-standard fabrication — sizes outside the standard catalogue, including special geometries.
- Resharpening service — cutters return to service after regrinding at a fraction of new-tool cost.
- Factory-direct since 2008 — ISO 9001 manufacturing in Sichuan and Dongguan, China; no trading intermediaries.
Send a drawing, a sample or a worn tool, and our engineering team will quote the exact specification you need.
Precision & Quality Control
Every cutter is inspected before shipment. Shank diameter, cutting-edge diameter, cutting length and overall length are measured against the values listed in the specifications table, and cutting edge runout is verified on the assembled tool.
Tools measuring outside tolerance do not ship. Inspection is performed under our ISO 9001 quality system, with batch records retained for traceability.
