60 Degree V-Sharp CNC Slotting Router Bit
Design and Construction — a VPOINT insert V-groove / slotting bit for signmaking and decorative panel work, sized for MDF and similar workpieces. Steel body, mechanically clamped carbide knives: rotate or replace the edge in minutes on the machine, and the cutting diameter stays constant — no CAM recalibration, no sharpening service. Specification and reference tables below. ISO 9001 production, batch-verified.
Design and Construction
The 60° V-sharp CNC slotting router bit pairs a 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body with replaceable tungsten carbide insert knives. 60° included angle, diameter (ØD) 21 mm with 6, 6.35, 12 and 12.7 mm shanks, 22 mm (25 mm cutting) slotting length and one tooth (1T); inserts 22 x 12 x 1.5 mm per the specifications table.
How It Works
The insert knives seat in precision pockets and present ground carbide edges to the workpiece. When an edge dulls, the knife is turned to its second edge or swapped in minutes — the body, its shank and its concentricity stay on the spindle, and the next cut lands at the same dimension.
Applications
- 60° slotting on CNC routers
- V-slot and groove cuts
- Panel slotting work
- Sign and display fabrication
Suitable Materials
- Melamine-faced particleboard
- MDF and laminated boards
- Plywood and veneered panels
- Solid wood

The insert knife holds the 60° V point and slot width across long runs.
System Comparison: Replaceable Insert vs. Solid Knife
Insert bits keep the steel body in service and replace only the cutting edges. For production routing and panel work, this is usually the lower-cost way to hold edge quality.
| Property | Replaceable Insert Knife (This Tool) | Solid Profile Knife |
|---|---|---|
| Edge replacement | Swap the worn insert only; the steel body stays in service | Regrind or replace the complete tool |
| Body material | 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body, reused across insert changes | Whole tool consumed as the edge wears |
| Downtime per edge change | Minutes — index or swap the insert | Send out for regrinding or buy a new tool |
| Profile changes | Fit a different insert geometry to the same body | New tool required per profile |
| Edge condition | Fresh edge on every change; consistent cut quality | Edge quality drifts between regrinds |
| Best suited for | Production cutterheads with repeat profiles | One-off profiles and low-volume work |
Solid knives remain the better choice for one-off profiles and very low volumes.
Delivery Scope
Single bit. Order by product code with the diameter, shank, cutting length and tooth count stated in the specifications table below.
Why Choose VPOINT
- One-year warranty on every cutter — defects in material or workmanship are covered for 12 months from delivery.
- Custom tooling — diameters, bores, cutting widths and tooth counts built to your drawing or sample.
- Non-standard fabrication — profiles and sizes outside the standard catalogue, including profile restoration.
- Resharpening service — cutters return to service after regrinding at a fraction of new-tool cost.
- Factory-direct since 2008 — ISO 9001 manufacturing in Sichuan and Dongguan, China; 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel bodies; no trading intermediaries.
Send a drawing, a sample or a worn tool, and our engineering team will quote the exact specification you need.
Precision & Quality Control
Every cutter is inspected at micron level before shipment. Cutting diameter (ØD), bore (Ød), cutting width/height (B/H) and overall dimensions are measured against the values listed in the specifications table, and cutting edge runout and concentricity are verified on the assembled tool.
Tools measuring outside tolerance are reground or scrapped — they do not ship. Inspection is performed under our ISO 9001 quality system, with batch records retained for traceability.

Performance Data
Standard reference values for guidance only — always adjust to machine rigidity, clamping and tool wear, and confirm on the actual workpiece.
| Material | Typical spindle speed | Typical feed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MDF | 18,000–22,000 rpm | 8–12 m/min | Insert knives hold diameter on abrasive MDF |
| melamine-faced board | 18,000–22,000 rpm | 6–10 m/min | Constant diameter keeps knife changes invisible |
| particleboard | 18,000–22,000 rpm | 8–12 m/min | Rotate the knife at the first sign of fuzzing |
| laminated panel | 18,000–20,000 rpm | 6–10 m/min | Finer grain carbide than brazing allows |
| plywood / veneered panels | 18,000–22,000 rpm | 8–12 m/min | Clean edges through alternating grain |
