Factory High Quality 6 mm 1/4″ Shank Diameter SF Series Carbide Burr
SF-series tree-shape carbide burrs from 3 to 16 mm cut diameters on 3-12 mm shanks – the widest size ladder in one geometry.
Design and Construction
The SF (tree shape with radius end) series spans cut diameters from 3 to 16 mm and shanks from 3 to 12 mm. Every size keeps the same tree-radius profile, so a proven geometry scales across the whole job from 3 mm detail work to 16 mm heavy blending.
How It Works
The radius-end tree profile blends flat-to-curved transitions without stepping. Larger heads run slower: 3 mm at up to 50,000 RPM, 16 mm at about 15,000 RPM.
Applications
Mould blending, fabrication radii, impeller and blade work, heavy weld dressing at the large end.
Field Cases
- Mould shop: an SF-3 (3 mm) cleans a fillet an SF-16 cannot enter – same geometry, no re-learn.
- Impeller repair: SF sizes step from the 12 mm hub blend down to a 6 mm blade-root radius.
- Structural shop: SF-16 blends a 20 mm fillet weld on a beam-to-column joint in one pass.
Performance Data
| Metric | Value / Observation |
|---|---|
| Cut diameter ladder | 3 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 mm |
| Cut length ladder | 13 / 16 / 20 / 25 mm (Available) |
| Shank options | 3 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 mm |
| Speed by size | 3 mm: to 50,000 RPM; 16 mm: about 15,000 RPM |
Suitable Materials
Steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals.
Standard reference values for guidance only — always adjust to the workpiece material, the machine spindle speed and the feed, and confirm on the actual part.
Material Comparison: SF vs SC vs SD on the Same 6 mm Head
Shape choice at equal size – typical industry data:
| Shape | Best Job | Contact Behaviour | Signature Strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| SF tree-radius | Radii and weld blending | Rolls along transitions | No step marks |
| SC cylinder ball-nose | Flat work with bottom corners | End cut squares pockets | Corner radius fixed |
| SD ball | Concave blending | Full-radius contact | Deepest concave reach |
Delivery Scope
Burr in plastic case; the full size ladder stocked for same-size replacement.
Why Choose VPOINT
One geometry across thirteen sizes keeps tooling standards simple across crews.
Precision & Quality Control
Each size is checked against its dimension drawing; radius profile is template-verified.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which size replaces a grinding stone?
SF-12 or SF-16 for large blends; SF-6 for detail.
Do all sizes use 6 mm shanks?
No – 3 mm heads use 3 or 6 mm shanks, large heads use 6-12 mm; see the size ladder.
Is the profile identical across sizes?
Yes, the tree-radius geometry is scaled, not redesigned.
Can I order mixed sizes in one case?
Yes, mixed-size cases are a common wholesale order.
What speed for the 16 mm?
About 15,000 RPM; larger heads need lower RPM.
