Diamond double arc circular bottom knife
PCD double-arc round-bottom bits (Z2), D 19.05-38.1 mm, R 6.35 mm, shank 12.7 mm. Constant-radius concave grooves for cabinet finger pulls and decorative reveals.
The VPOINT Diamond double arc circular bottom knife is a replaceable-knife cutting tool. Ideal for cabinet and drawer finger pulls, decorative groove and reveal cutting and door and panel detailing.
The VP0028 series round-bottom bit pairs a solid PCD cutting edge with a 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body; the double-arc profile cuts a concave groove with a constant radius across the width. Diameter, radius and width follow the specifications table.
Design and Construction
The VP0028 series round-bottom bit pairs a solid PCD cutting edge with a 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body. The double-arc profile cuts a concave groove with a constant 6.35 mm radius. Cutting diameters (ØD) run 19.05 to 38.1 mm with a 12.7 mm shank (Ød) and 15.9 mm cutting height (H); the two-flute (Z2) geometry balances finish and chip clearance.

How It Works
The double-arc profile forms a consistent concave groove in a single pass — the geometry used for cabinet finger pulls and decorative reveals. Because the radius is constant along the full cutting height, grooves cut at different depths keep the same profile, and the PCD edge holds the radius in abrasive faced boards.
Applications
- Cabinet and drawer finger pulls
- Decorative groove and reveal cutting
- Door and panel detailing
- Furniture profile work on CNC routers
Suitable Materials
- Melamine-faced particleboard and MDF
- Laminate (HPL) sheets
- Veneered plywood
- Solid wood

The PCD edge holds the arc radius in abrasive sheet goods, keeping the groove profile stable across long production runs.
Material Comparison: PCD vs. Tungsten Carbide
The figures below are typical industry data for production woodworking. PCD does not replace carbide in every job — carbide remains the right choice for steel, cast iron and low-volume general work — but on abrasive sheet goods the difference in service life is decisive.
| Property | PCD Diamond (This Tool) | Tungsten Carbide |
|---|---|---|
| Hardness | 7,000–9,000 HV | 1,500–2,000 HV |
| Tool life on MDF / particleboard / melamine | 15–20× longer (500–1,200 h) | 30–60 h (baseline) |
| Tool life on solid hardwood | 10–13× longer (800–2,000 h) | 80–150 h (baseline) |
| Tool life on acrylic / plastics | 10–15× longer (1,000–3,000 h) | 100–200 h (baseline) |
| Resharpening cycles | 5–8 regrinds (thick tips up to 10); each pass removes only 0.2–0.3 mm of diamond | 4–6 regrinds, each removing more material |
| Surface finish | Ra ≤ 0.2 μm achievable, stable over the tool life | Ra ~0.8 μm typical, degrades as the edge wears |
| Thermal conductivity | 540–560 W/m·K — heat leaves the edge fast | ~80 W/m·K |
| Friction coefficient | ≈ 0.05 — lower cutting forces | ≈ 0.3 |
| Suited for | Abrasive engineered wood, laminates, composites, plastics, non-ferrous metals | General-purpose; the only choice for steel and cast iron |
Figures are typical published values; actual tool life depends on the workpiece material, feed rate, depth of cut, machine condition and maintenance schedule.
Delivery Scope
Single cutter. Order by part number with the diameter stated in the specifications table below.
Why Choose VPOINT
- One-year warranty on every cutter — defects in material or workmanship are covered for 12 months from delivery.
- Custom tooling — geometries, diameters, cutting lengths and shank configurations built to your drawing or sample.
- Non-standard fabrication — profiles and sizes outside the standard catalogue, including profile restoration and special applications.
- Resharpening service — cutters return to service after regrinding, restoring near-original edge performance at a fraction of new-tool cost.
- Factory-direct since 2008 — ISO 9001 manufacturing in Sichuan and Dongguan, China; 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel bodies; no trading intermediaries.
Send a drawing, a sample or a worn tool, and our engineering team will quote the exact specification you need.
Precision & Quality Control
Every cutter is inspected at micron level before shipment. Cutting edge condition, cutting diameter (ØD), shank diameter (Ød), cutting length (L1) and overall length (L) are measured against the values listed in the specifications table, and cutting edge runout and concentricity are verified on the assembled tool.
Tools measuring outside tolerance are reground or scrapped — they do not ship. Inspection is performed under our ISO 9001 quality system, with batch records retained for traceability.
