Diamond Beveled Edge Knife
PCD chamfer bits (Z2), D 21.98-44.4 mm, 45° angle, chamfer width 6.35-22.2 mm, shank 12.7 mm. Single-pass edge chamfering and deburring on panel lines.
The VPOINT Diamond Beveled Edge Knife is a replaceable-knife cutting tool. Ideal for edge chamfering and deburring on panel lines, V-groove preparatory cutting and decorative 45° edge reveals.
The VP0025 series chamfer bit pairs a solid PCD cutting edge with a 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body; the single 45° angled edge cuts the bevel in one pass. Cutting diameter and angle follow the specifications table.
Design and Construction
The VP0025 series chamfer bit pairs a solid PCD cutting edge with a 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body. The single 45° angled edge cuts a chamfer in one pass. Cutting diameters (ØD) run 21.98 to 44.4 mm with a 12.7 mm shank (Ød); the chamfer width (B) spans 6.35 to 22.2 mm, matched to each diameter so the working angle stays at 45° across the range. The two-flute (Z2) geometry balances finish and chip clearance.

How It Works
The angled PCD edge shears a 45° chamfer along the panel edge in a single pass, breaking the sharp arris and removing burrs left by sizing cuts. Because the chamfer width is proportional to the diameter, selecting the part number for the panel thickness keeps the cut angle exact.
Applications
- Edge chamfering and deburring on panel lines
- V-groove preparatory cutting
- Decorative 45° edge reveals
- Cabinet and furniture edge finishing
Suitable Materials
- Melamine-faced particleboard and MDF
- Laminate (HPL) sheets
- Veneered plywood
- Solid wood

The PCD edge holds the 45° angle in abrasive faced boards, keeping chamfer width consistent across long production runs.
Material Comparison: PCD vs. Tungsten Carbide
The figures below are typical industry data for production woodworking. PCD does not replace carbide in every job — carbide remains the right choice for steel, cast iron and low-volume general work — but on abrasive sheet goods the difference in service life is decisive.
| Property | PCD Diamond (This Tool) | Tungsten Carbide |
|---|---|---|
| Hardness | 7,000–9,000 HV | 1,500–2,000 HV |
| Tool life on MDF / particleboard / melamine | 15–20× longer (500–1,200 h) | 30–60 h (baseline) |
| Tool life on solid hardwood | 10–13× longer (800–2,000 h) | 80–150 h (baseline) |
| Tool life on acrylic / plastics | 10–15× longer (1,000–3,000 h) | 100–200 h (baseline) |
| Resharpening cycles | 5–8 regrinds (thick tips up to 10); each pass removes only 0.2–0.3 mm of diamond | 4–6 regrinds, each removing more material |
| Surface finish | Ra ≤ 0.2 μm achievable, stable over the tool life | Ra ~0.8 μm typical, degrades as the edge wears |
| Thermal conductivity | 540–560 W/m·K — heat leaves the edge fast | ~80 W/m·K |
| Friction coefficient | ≈ 0.05 — lower cutting forces | ≈ 0.3 |
| Suited for | Abrasive engineered wood, laminates, composites, plastics, non-ferrous metals | General-purpose; the only choice for steel and cast iron |
Figures are typical published values; actual tool life depends on the workpiece material, feed rate, depth of cut, machine condition and maintenance schedule.
Delivery Scope
Single cutter. Order by part number with the diameter and chamfer width stated in the specifications table below.
Why Choose VPOINT
- One-year warranty on every cutter — defects in material or workmanship are covered for 12 months from delivery.
- Custom tooling — geometries, diameters, cutting lengths and shank configurations built to your drawing or sample.
- Non-standard fabrication — profiles and sizes outside the standard catalogue, including profile restoration and special applications.
- Resharpening service — cutters return to service after regrinding, restoring near-original edge performance at a fraction of new-tool cost.
- Factory-direct since 2008 — ISO 9001 manufacturing in Sichuan and Dongguan, China; 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel bodies; no trading intermediaries.
Send a drawing, a sample or a worn tool, and our engineering team will quote the exact specification you need.
Precision & Quality Control
Every cutter is inspected at micron level before shipment. Cutting edge condition, cutting diameter (ØD), shank diameter (Ød), cutting length (L1) and overall length (L) are measured against the values listed in the specifications table, and cutting edge runout and concentricity are verified on the assembled tool.
Tools measuring outside tolerance are reground or scrapped — they do not ship. Inspection is performed under our ISO 9001 quality system, with batch records retained for traceability.
