PCD Compression Router Bit

PCD compression router bits size and groove solid wood and wood-based panels on compatible CNC woodworking machines. The series covers four tooth layouts — (1+1)Z, (2+2)Z, (3+3)Z and (4+4)Z — with cutting diameters from 6 to 60 mm, cutting heights from 15 to 60 mm and shanks from 8 to 32 mm.

Design and Construction

+The cutting edges are polycrystalline diamond (PCD) brazed onto a 40Cr chrome-molybdenum steel body in a compression geometry: the tooth layout runs (1+1)Z to (4+4)Z, pairing an up-shear flute with a down-shear flute at each level. Shank diameters follow the table — 8, 12/12.70, 12.7, 16/20/25 and 20/25/32 mm options. The series is produced in the Sichuan and Dongguan, China manufacturing bases.

How It Works

+In a single pass the lower flutes shear upward and the upper flutes shear downward, directing chip pressure toward the panel core. Both faces of the panel are pressed inward, so veneers and coatings exit clean on the top and bottom of the cut at the same time — the reason compression geometry is preferred for sizing and grooving double-sided panels. Select the tooth layout, cutting height and shank option as one configuration; the listed combinations are not interchangeable.

Applications

  • Sizing and grooving solid wood and wood-based panels
  • For compatible CNC woodworking machines, engraving machines and routing machines

Suitable Materials

  • Veneered or uncoated chipboard, plywood, MDF and suitable solid-wood workpieces
  • Suitability depends on the specific material grade, profile and machining conditions; confirm the application before ordering

Material Comparison: Traditional Brazed Tungsten Carbide vs. Diamond (PCD) Router Bit

+Typical industry data for reference. Actual results depend on the workpiece grade, machine condition and feed rate.

Cutting material hardness 1,500–2,000 HV 7,000–9,000 HV
Edge life on MDF / particleboard Baseline (1×) 15–20× longer edge life
Edge life on solid wood Baseline (1×) 10–13× longer edge life
Edge life on acrylic Baseline (1×) 10–15× longer edge life
Regrinding / refurbishing cycles 2–4 times 5–8 times
Cut edge quality Ra 0.4–0.8 µm, more fuzzing Ra 0.2–0.4 µm, cleaner edge
Thermal conductivity ≈ 100 W/m·K ≈ 500 W/m·K, heat cleared faster
Friction coefficient ≈ 0.3 ≈ 0.05–0.1, lower cutting force
Chipping risk on brittle panels Higher at high feed Lower, stable edge at high feed
Cost per metre of cutting Higher over long runs Lower over long runs

Delivery Scope

Each tool is packed in an individual plastic box.

+Each order also includes an inspection record. Custom configurations are produced after the workpiece material, machine model and required dimensions are confirmed.

Why Choose VPOINT

+VPOINT supports this series with:

  • One-year warranty on every router bit
  • Custom and non-standard diameters, cutting heights and shanks produced to order
  • Regrinding service to extend tool life
  • Factory direct since 2008, ISO 9001 certified
  • Dual manufacturing bases in Sichuan and Dongguan, China

Precision & Quality Control

+Every compression router bit is inspected before shipment: cutting diameter, shank diameter, cutting height and tool runout are checked against the specification table at micron level. Production follows an ISO 9001 process with batch traceability, so reorders match the original configuration.

Specifications

The table below lists selected configurations transcribed from the original four specification charts. All dimensions are in millimetres. D is cutting diameter, H cutting height, d shank diameter, L overall length and Z tooth layout. Each row is a separate configuration; confirm the exact shank option and configuration before ordering — combinations and tooth layouts must not be interchanged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tooth layouts are available?

+Four layouts: (1+1)Z, (2+2)Z, (3+3)Z and (4+4)Z, with cutting diameters from 6 to 60 mm and cutting heights from 15 to 60 mm. Each table row is one configuration and the combinations must not be interchanged.

How do I choose the right compression configuration?

+Match the cutting height to the panel thickness and pick the tooth layout for the finish required, then select the shank for your collet as one complete table row. Confirm the panel thickness and operation before choosing a compression layout.

Can you supply the full LH055 model series?

+Yes. Model codes LH05501 through LH05524 are listed on the original chart alongside the four series above. Send the item code or required dimensions for confirmation and quotation.

What should I send for a custom request?

+The item code or required profile drawing, tool dimensions, workpiece material, machine model, cutting direction and quantity, plus a reference photo or current-tool drawing where available.
