70% Tungsten Carbide Composite Rods and Hardfacing Rod
70% carbide loading by weight – the high-loading rod for maximum wear life per pass.
Design and Construction — a VPOINT tungsten carbide composite hardfacing rod for oil drilling and mining wear protection. The specification and performance tables below list dims, duty and inspection points; the FAQ covers selection, use and service. ISO 9001 production, batch-verified, custom sizes from drawings.
Design and Construction
A 70% carbide-loading composite rod: by weight, seven tenths of the rod is crushed tungsten carbide, three tenths matrix – the high-loading specification for deposits that must outlast everything around them.
How It Works
High loading means every pass lays down maximum grit; the wear skin is mostly carbide with just enough matrix to hold it.
Applications
Maximum-wear applications, rock duty, drilling tool rebuilds, hard-rock mining.
Field Cases
- Rock duty: 70% rods doubled the rebuild interval on drill stabilisers.
- Mining: the loading spec became the mine standard.
- Rebuild shop: passes per part dropped at the higher loading.

| Metric | Value / Observation |
|---|---|
| Carbide loading | 70% by weight |
| Matrix | 30% – holding only |
| Wear outcome | Maximum per pass (typical) |
| Granules | Crushed tungsten carbide |
Suitable Materials
Steel parts in maximum-wear duty.
Material Comparison: 70% vs 60% vs 50% Carbide Loading
The loading ladder – typical industry data:
| Factor | 70% (this rod) | 60% | 50% |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbide by weight | 70% – maximum | 60% – balanced | 50% – flexible |
| Wear life claim | Longest | Long | Standard |
| Rod stiffness | Stiffest | Stiff | Workable |
| Deposit character | Mostly carbide | Balanced | More matrix |
| Best duty | Extreme rock | General hard-facing | Fine repairs |
Delivery Scope
Rod in tube; loading spec included.
Why Choose VPOINT
Loading is the wear-life lever – 70% is the high end.
