Carbide Hinge Boring Bit for Woodworking Production
This hinge boring tool combines carbide cutting edges with a steel shank for drilling hinge holes in solid-wood panels, particleboard, plywood and MDF. Diameters from 15 to 25 mm in a 70 mm overall length cover the standard hinge-cup range, and right- or left-hand rotation is selected to match the boring spindle.

Design and Construction
+The cutting head is tungsten carbide braised-ground for hinge-cup boring, brazed onto a polished steel shank. The chart lists cutting diameters 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 25 mm at a 70 mm overall length, in right- and left-hand versions for multi-spindle boring heads. Production takes place in the Sichuan and Dongguan, China manufacturing bases.
How It Works
+Mounted in the boring spindle, the carbide lip and spur shear the hinge-cup seat cleanly in one plunge. The carbide edge holds its diameter through thousands of holes on MDF and particleboard, keeping hinge cups at a consistent press fit without rework.
Applications
- Hinge-hole boring on six-sided drilling machines, multi-spindle boring machines, bench drilling machines and side-hole drilling machines
- Hinge-cup and system-hole drilling in cabinet and furniture panels
Suitable Materials
- Solid-wood panels, particleboard, plywood and MDF, subject to grade and application review
- Suitability depends on the specific material grade, machine condition and machining parameters; confirm the application before ordering

Delivery Scope
Select the required diameter and rotation with your enquiry; each configuration is produced against the confirmed specification.
+Each order also includes an inspection record. Send the hinge cup diameter, boring depth, board material, machine model and required rotation so the configuration is confirmed before production.
Why Choose VPOINT
+VPOINT supports this carbide tool series with:
- One-year warranty on every tool
- Custom diameters, shanks and rotations produced to order
- Regrinding service to extend tool life
- Factory direct since 2008, ISO 9001 certified
- Dual manufacturing bases in Sichuan and Dongguan, China
Precision & Quality Control
+Every hinge boring bit is inspected before shipment: cutting diameter, shank diameter and tool runout are checked against the specification table at micron level. Production follows an ISO 9001 process with batch traceability, so reorders match the original configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which diameters are available?
+The chart lists cutting diameters of 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 25 mm, all at a 70 mm overall length.
Which rotation should I choose?
+Multi-spindle boring heads alternate spindle rotation; match the rotation (right- or left-hand) of the spindle position where the bit will run. Send the machine model so the pairing is confirmed.
Which machines suit this bit?
+Six-sided drilling machines, multi-spindle boring machines, bench drilling machines and side-hole drilling machines are all listed as suitable.
What should I send for a quotation?
+Hinge cup diameter, boring depth, board material, machine model, required rotation and quantity, plus a current-tool photo or dimensioned drawing where available.
